Owning a Guild:
So you would like to own a guild? Well there are a few things you
have to do and think over before you can call your guild a great
one. First of all ask your self if you are responsible enough or
have enough time to manage a guild. You need to make a commitment
to spend most of the time on your computer to work on and observe your guild.
All your guild members will depend on You. If
you feel confident that you will be able to manage a guild you
should start by picking a theme...
THEME:
Now you need to pick one of your favorite interests or
hobbies that you know much about. There are MANY guild about
Neopets, Harry Potter, or Anime. I suggest if you really want a
guild out of those that you join a guild instead of making one.
But if you really want to MAKE one of them just remember it will
be much more hard to find guild members. If you choose to make a
different guild make a list of your interests and narrow it down
to your favorite. Say it was horses, You should make sure you have
a lot of horse related activity's, like have a activity page that
has links to horse shelters or a horse donation. Try as much as you
can to stick to the specific theme you chose.Let's movie onto the name
NAMING YOUR GUILD:
Now that you have your theme it's time for a
name. Make the guilds name is tasteful and be sure to use your best
grammar, punctuation and capitalize well. Try as much as you can
to have the name appealing to people who like horses like "Forever-
Hoof". Also leave out as many numbers as you can. Good Example:
Hand in Hoof. Bad Example: !~*HOursey101*~1. In the good example
it's cute and appealing in the bad example it has all the no-no's.
The bad example is just a name people sometimes use to make a guild
out of amusement, But you want your guild to be nice and a bit serious.
Now that you have put together your guild it's time
to get a layout to make the guild attractive. Try looking around
at some websites *Hint Hint* like here at the Thirteenthfloor or asking
other neopians to help you out. It also doesn't take that long to learn how.
I taught myself how to make guild layouts in a week, It was fun and helpfull
to others . Make it have easy navigation,
also try putting a link to a activity page to keep the members
busy. Make sure the guild layout has a lot of writing space so you
can keep your members up to date with the latest news from the
guild. And don't make the layout way to colorful or crazy. Keep it
mellow.
ADVERTISING:
Now that you have your guild made it's time to get
members. Make a paragraph of all the stuff your guild does so the
person your telling this to gets to know if it's the kind of guild
he/she wants to join before looking at it. The first place you should start
advertising is a board. Go into guilds and post your advertisment on a board
that says "Guildless" or "Looking for guild" It's a great way to find the
members your looking for. paste the advertise
paragraph you made on the guild so that members can advertise
whenever they feel. Never push someone to join your guild or
harass them. That will just get them to report you and if you do
harass them you do deserve to be reported. Ask them once and if
they say no just leave them be. You don't want your guild to be a
mean one. After 25+ members. you should be stable enough to stop
advertising. But it never hurts to do some more!
SUSPICIOUS MEMBERS:
Have you notice any members who joined your
guild but haven't been active? Have any of your members been rude
or offensive? if so it's time to take back. The only members you
want in your guild are one's that are active, friendly and nice.
make sure to have rules of what you don't want your guild members
to do and have a chart like this: Rudeness: Suspend for a period
of time. Inactive: Give one warning and if they do it again suspend them.
Offensive language: Ban. You should only let them slide once. If
they want to be a member of your guild they should act like they
do. But also be sure to reward other members for being good by
Member Of the Week (or month). or other things like that.
AFTERWARD:
Always ponder your guild members ideas or thoughts when
they give them to you. Respect there wishes and always be active.
If you follow the good things. your guild should turn out just
fine. Have fun at your new guild!
